Winpass TN Server |
|
Providing
high-speed mainframe connectivity to thousands of users
over industry standard TCP/IP and TN3270E protocols, the
Winpass TNserver pairs rock-solid stability with those features
most meaningful to users: ease of use, low resource utilization,
and low cost of ownership. No newcomer to the world of mainframe
connectivity ICOM Informatics has been providing LAN-to-host
connectivity products since 1985. Learn how the Windows-based
Winpass TNserver will meet your mainframe connectivity requirements
now and into the future.
Winpass
TNserver is a robust, high-end gateway capable of connecting
thousands of concurrent TCP/IP-based users to one or more
IBM 390-class mainframes via SDLC, X.25/QLLC or 802.2 LLC
protocols. Operating on a 32-bit Windows platform, Winpass
TNserver uses SNA to communicate with IBM mainframe computers,
making them accessible to IP-based clients via the standard
TN3270E data stream supported by most commercial terminal
emulation products.
Winpass
TNserver differentiates itself by excelling in areas of
supreme importance to today’s connectivity users: ease of
use, low resource requirements, and low cost of ownership.
Ease of Use

Winpass
TNserver is easy to configure and maintain, fast and efficient.
The WinPass Manager lets the administrator monitor and control
host sessions from his desktop. Further, the TNserver ships
with a built-in host emulator, allowing offline testing
of all TN3270E emulator functions.
Low Resource Use

The
entire Winpass TNserver installation directory requires
less than 3MB of disk storage. TNServer’s minimal, run-time
memory requirements enable it to run concurrent with other
applications instead of requiring a dedicated super server.
Low Cost of Ownership

Not
only is Winpass TNserver competitively priced on a per user
or per session basis, but its ongoing ownership costs are
manageable as well. Technical support and extended warranty,
which includes free upgrades, is attractively and predictably
priced.
Host Connectivity

Winpass
TNserver provides mainframe connectivity to TCP/IP-based
clients over Synchronous Data Link Control (SDLC), X.25
Qualified Logical Link Control (QLLC), and 802.2 Logical
Link Control (LLC) protocols.
Users and Sessions

The
Winpass TNserver will support thousands of users each with
multiple sessions, depending on the hardware configuration
running the Winpass software, more than any rational IT
manager would want relying on a single machine.
Management Tools

Winpass
TNserver software includes tools to help the system administrator
more easily configure and control mainframe access.
TNserver
Management Console
The TNserver Management Console enables the administrator
to configure user sessions and monitor usage. The Management
Console uses intuitive Windows point-and-click functionality
to enable the system administrator to configure and control
communications with the mainframe.
Host
Emulator
Winpass TNserver includes a built-in mainframe emulator,
giving the administrator the means of testing TN3270E client
to TNserver connectivity "offline." The built-in host emulator
provides robust TN3270E testing capabilities, including
associated LU1 and LU3 printing, character set and screen
attribute mappings, function keys, IND$FILE file transfer
rates, and TN negotiation. If you would like to test
your TN3270(E) emulator against the test facilities provided
by the Winpass TNserver's built-in host emulator, visit
the TN3270E
Test Center.
Comm Adapters

Communication
adapters compatible with Winpass TNserver depend on the
host connection.
SDLC
SDLC connection to the host is made via ICOM Informatic’s
High-Speed Serial Adapter, model code PC-HSA-03.
X.25/QLLC
X.25/QLLC connection to the host is made via ICOM Informatic’s
High-Speed Serial Adapter, model code PC-HSA-03.
802.2LLC
Connection to the host via 802.2 LLC protocol is made over
any industry standard Ethernet or token ring network interface
card.
System Specifications
